Amy B. Alford, PhD

I'm broadly trained in aquatic ecology and management with over 20 years experience in fisheries and wetlands conservation, research, and education.  My specific interests are understanding how the functional composition of fish assemblages respond to environmental change, how we can manage hydrology to meet ecological and societal demands in agricultural landscapes and how fish populations are regulated by fishing and other anthropogenic factors. I also have a deep love for natural resources conservation education at all learning levels and love a good data science challenge. Currently, I am a Postdoctoral Scientist with the West TN River Basin Authority where I work on an interdisciplinary team with engineers to develop models of river morphology and flow regimes using remotely-sensed data and evaluate stream restoration practices. I also manage the Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center in Put-in-Bay, OH and serve as the Director of Road Scholar programming for the Islands of Western Lake Erie.
